Pam Johnston , Director, Oboist

Pam Johnston, oboe, is a recently retired senior executive with thirty-five years of global revenue and operating experience in executive leadership positions across a broad range of high tech industries. Pam has a MBA from Harvard Business School, a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance from Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, which she attended on a full performance scholarship, while studying with oboists from the Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland Symphony Orchestras. Recently retired, she is now a freelance oboist, having resumed her playing during the 2020 Pandemic after a 40-year hiatus.
Pam is a member of the SBCC Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with the Santa Barbara Chamber Players, UCSB Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra, and Baltimore Symphony Academy. She also participates regularly in Chamber Music Workshops in Santa Barbara and Humboldt, California, and at Kinhaven in Vermont.

Erin Bonski , Pianist

Erin Bonski

Erin Bonski, pianist, began her musical journey in Pennsylvania, where she studied with Dr. Tim Shafer at Penn State University while in high school, and became the youngest participant in the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts. Erin went on to earn her B.M. and M.M. degrees from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and pursued doctoral studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

A versatile artist, Erin has served as Staff Continuo player at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, collaborative pianist at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and as Chorusmaster and Repetiteur for Toledo Opera. Since moving to Santa Barbara, she has collaborated regularly with local arts organizations, including the Santa Barbara Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, and Ensemble Theatre Company, and has performed internationally, including appearances with the Grammy-winning ensemble Forever Tango. Her academic career includes positions at Santa Barbara City College, the University of California, Santa Barbara, Westmont College and Bowling Green State University, where she has taught piano pedagogy, opera coaching, and piano literature.

She has published works on ensemble playing and sight-reading in American Music Teacher Magazine, and she has recorded the works of Dr. Earl Louis Stewart. Erin has also worked as a church musician throughout most of her career, leading a vibrant music ministry for the last decade at First Presbyterian Church. She is eager to give back to her community as Secretary on the Board for the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation. Currently, she serves as adjunct faculty and collaborative pianist at Westmont College while maintaining a private piano studio and consulting with arts organizations across Southern California.

Myroslava Kisilevitch

Myroslava Kisilevitch, piano, was born in Ukraine into a family of professional musicians. She earned MM and DMA Degrees from both the Lviv Higher State Music Academy and the University of Minnesota, and has concertized in Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary and the U.S. She has received critical acclaim for her large and varied repertoire, including many works of promiment Ukrainian composers. Miroslava was invited to perform chamber recitals on the Smithsonian Institute Recital Series by the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, CD, and in Chicago in a concert sponsored by the Ukrainian Museum of Chicago.

Gulia Gurevich , Violinist

Gulia Gurevich, is violinst and violist of the Prima Trio and winner of the Grand Prix and Gold Medals at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Co-founder of the Nelli Shkolnikova Academy (Château de La Flocellière, France) and Artistic Director of the “Classical Concerts on the Hill” in Los Angeles, she has taught masterclasses at Oberlin and San Francisco Conservatories and is a member of the jury of the International Violin Competition in Braga, Portugal. She is a graduate of Indiana University, and also holds a degree from Oberlin Conservatory. Gulia is currently pursuing a DMA Degree at UCSB.

Alexander Gurevich , Violist

Alexander Gurevich, violist, completed his studies at the Manhattan School of Music, then studied at UCSB and USC. He has performed in the LA Philharmonic, Indianapolis Symphony, Florida Philharmonic, New World Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, and San Diego Symphony, and at Umbria
Segreta Concerts, French-American Quartet Festival, and the Paris Conservatory at Château de la Bretesche (France). Alexander has performed at Kneisel Hall, Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West and Schleswig-Holstein Music Festivals, and is currently General Manager of the New West Symphony.

Andy Radford , Bassoonist

Andy Radford, bassoonist, is faculty member at both UCSB and Westmont College. Principal Bassoonist of the Santa Barbara Symphony and California Philharmonic, he also serves as Conductor of the Santa Barbara Youth Orchestra. Active in the recording industry, he has performed in over 300 soundtracks, including the films Jurassic Park and Star Wars, and has recorded with such artists as Neil Diamond, The Modern Jazz Quartet, and The Three Tenors.

Trey Farrell , Oboist

Trey Farrell, oboist, received his BA Degree from Pennsylvania State University and his MM Degree from USC. Currently Adjunct Instructor of Oboe at Westmont College, he is an active freelance musician performing throughout Southern California. In addition, Trey teaches instrumental music at Roosevelt Elementary School, performs with the San Luis Obispo Symphony and Opera Orchestra and maintains a private oboe studio in Santa Barbara.

Ervin Klinkon , Cellist

Ervin Klinkon, cellist, received his musical training in Germany and New York. He has performed as soloist and with chamber music ensembles in Europe and the U.S., and with orchestras in Houston and in Washington, D.C. (Kennedy Center Opera House, National Gallery, and National Symphony). Ervin served as Chairman of the Music Department at Montgomery College (MD) and conducted the Montgomery College Symphony Orchestra for twenty years. He now lives in Santa Barbara where he continues to lead an active musical life, playing with various ensembles, teaching cello, and coaching chamber music groups.

Diana Ray-Goodman , Violist

Diana Ray-Goodman, violist, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in music from California State University Northridge and worked on her Master’s Degree at Arizona State University. She has performed with several orchestras, including the Phoenix, Santa Barbara and Conejo Valley Orchestras and the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic. A member of the music faculty at both California State University Channel Islands and Moorpark College, she is an adjudicator and registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and also maintains a studio for violin and viola students in Thousand Oaks.

Gary Chandler , Violinist

Gary Chandler, violinist, received his Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA with a major in motion pictures and a minor in music, and worked in the motion picture post-production industry at Paramount, Lorimar and Disney Studios for 40 years. He has played in a number of orchestras, including the Santa Monica Symphony, the Valley and New Valley Symphonies, and the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra. An avid collector of fine violins, he is active in presenting lectures and demonstrations, discussing the beauty and history of extraordinary violins, sharing both his insight and his collection of violins and bows.
