From the Near Shore to the Far Horizon
Music Inspired by Nature and the Environment
On March 11, 2023 at 3pm the Emergence String Quartet will perform 10 short works exploring our natural environment. Violinists Kerenza Peacock and Maya Magub, violist Karen Long and cellist Virginia Kron will interpret music that reflects the Sespe (the last untamed major river in Southern California), examines the shoreline, listens to the trees, honors the bees and shouts back at the birds. The regional composers who have generously contributed their creative mastery to this project are David Campbell, Pauline Frechette, Greg Haggard, Leslie Hogan, Ashley Hoyer, Raul Kottler, Karen Goulding, Jim McCarthy, Laura Mihalka, and Kerenza Peacock.
